Walk This Way
Posted On April/2019
I’m in bed recuperating from the five hour surgery that I had last week for spinal stenosis. I only spent 2 days in the hospital but I’m really laid up with pain. Just getting in and out of bed is difficult and painful. I have needed the surgery for some time but had to put it off due to health issues.
I originally went to the orthopedic doctor back in November 2016 because of the intense pain in my lower spine and muscle spasms in my neck. That’s when I learned by chance that I had a tumor in my leg. I finally had the surgery because I couldn’t even walk a block without having to stop from the pain.
The recovery will take time and I have to wear a back brace for at least a month. I can’t bend, lift or twist which makes the simplest of tasks very difficult.
Elective surgery wasn’t at the top of my list of things to do after having a lung tumor removed. In fact, given my health history, it was a very big decision but I’m glad that I did it.
I’m looking forward to being able to walk more than a block this summer without excruciating pain!
